i’m still here!

I apologize for not posting anything for a MONTH! I can’t believe how fast this past month has gone by, and I have so much to update you on.

But first things first…I promised one of you ladies a bohemian-style GIVEAWAY gift to thank you for all of your incredible support over the past few months since starting my blog. And I finally have a chance to announce the winner.

Drumroll please…

And the winner is Pop Champagne! Congratulations! Please send me an email to figure out mailing logistics!

Now for the rest of you…

I also promised you a little update on my life.

A lot has happened.

First of all, I am now officially a full-time working woman! Climbing the career ladder in my stilettos…if only I could walk in them. More like ballerina flats at the moment. I am still learning!

When it came down time to make a decision on WHAT I want to do, WHERE I want to spend my 70 hours of work a week, and WHO I want to be working with, the decision was the easiest one I’ve ever made.

The company I work for is truly the best group of people I could imagine – the company culture is incredible. Not only that, but my job allows for me to meet lots of amazing business and community leaders – I am inspired on a daily basis. I work in a very creative, entrepreneurial, and highly-driven work environment, and I feel incredibly lucky.

Now the only challenge is fitting in time for yoga class…and blogging.

Lately, when I get home from my long day at work, the ONLY thing I want to do is change into my pink sweats, plop down on the couch, and watch my very busy TV schedule that I’ve started to neglect since working.

Outside of work, what have I been up to?

Lots of yoga. Planning my trip to New York next month – cannot wait! Planning bright, colorful work outfits to stand out in the sea of black and gray suits. Girls’ sushi nights. Oh, and watching all 4 hours of Kim Kardashian’s Fairytale Wedding. Please tell me I’m not the only one…

I am so sorry for disappearing for the past month, but please know that I am thinking about all of you wonderful ladies and miss you so much! Thank you for all of your kind emails and notes wondering if I was okay. It means the world to me.

Happy (Almost) Halloween!!!

XO Star

country concert blogger date

So I’ve heard the term “blate” floating around the internet for a while now, and decided that I need in on the fun! For those of you that don’t know what a blate is…

Blogger + Date = Blate

While Natalie over at The Bobby Pin and I became friends long before we started talking blogs (she is one of the reasons I started a blog!), I still classify this as my first official “blate.”

And as self-proclaimed Rascal Flatts and Sara Evans groupies, it was only fitting that us girls saw the last night of the Flatts Fest tour for this fun occasion.

That and celebrating some exciting new changes in life…but more on that later!

I was most excited to see Sara Evans – have any of you heard her song “A Little Bit Stronger?” Every time that song comes on, I belt it out – hands in the air, choreographed dance moves, as loud as I can sing. And I couldn’t wait to see it live. It’s such a female empowerment song for those times when boys don’t treat us the way we deserve.

But I also couldn’t wait to see Rascal Flatts. Their songs – like “Stand” and “My Wish” – are so inspirational and just happy songs. None of that emo-stuff.

I walked away from the concert loving every minute of it. From the drive down with Natalie and our hot chocolates and chocolate covered graham crackers and bag of Reeces…to the enormous, delicious, slice-of-heaven funnel cake…to the two of us singing every word to every song.

And I can’t forget the two drunk and disorderly large men sitting right next to us…and our repeated efforts to inch away from them.

It was an amazing night!

Can’t wait to fill you in on the exciting news in my life in the next few days…and don’t forget, THIS GIVEAWAY closes on Monday, September 26! Join in to win a gift basket of all kinds of fun goodies!

This weekend…something amazing happened.

I was watching one of my friends race at one of the biggest triathlons of the year – he actually WON the entire thing – when I saw…drumroll please…

Andy Baldwin. Former Bachelor. An Officer and a Gentleman.

I first noticed him sprinting by my brother and I at the end of the 10K run and knew it was him immediately. Underneath the layers and layers of sweat and dirt, at a triathlon of all places, I recognized his long eyelashes, crazy blue eyes, and six pack abs from watching his season…oh, let’s say four and a half years ago.

Boy oh boy do I sound like a stalker.

But he was one of my favoriteeee bachelors ever…so that’s justifiable, right??

After the race, I saw him walking by again and just haddd to do something.

I first started snapping pictures of him as he walked by. REAL COOL.

Maybe I should pursue a career as a paparazzi?

To further embarrass myself, I thennnn proceeded to chase him down and very collectedly (not) said, “Are you Andy Baldwin???”

So smooth, Star.

“Yes I am…how do you know me?”

“I am a HUGE bachelor fan. Can I pleaseee take a picture with you?”

And THAT is how it happened.

Please don’t think I’m crazy!

And guess how we topped off the day.

With this:

The most amazing, sugary meringue in the world, filled with passion fruit cream and piles and piles of the most delicious fresh fruit. AMAZING.

Have a great day ladies! Don’t forget to enter this giveaway!

my first giveaway!

I think it is about darn time that I thank you amazing friends for all of your support throughout the course of this blog.

Over a span of just a few months, I have “met” the most incredible women, and you never cease to inspire and amaze me with your creativity, passion, and love for what you do. This isn’t just a “virtual world” – it is a network of friends – and I can’t even begin to tell each and every one of you how much your comments, emails, and support means to me. I have so enjoyed getting to know all of you, and I feel so blessed to have met you! You are amazing women, role models, inspiration, and friends to me…and for that I want to thank you!

Which is why I am hosting my very first giveaway!

To thank YOU. Because without you, this blog wouldn’t be here.

It’s my first giveaway…so I’m still new at finding giveaway gifts that everyone will (hopefully!) like!

So here it is:

Just in case you can’t quite tell what everything is…there are three Chinese hanging lanterns (a floral fabric lantern, a paper striped lantern, and a white lacey lantern with red interior lining), a framed print of a gorgeous garden painting (I just loveee the colors – I got one for myself too!), a colorful decorative notepad, a red felt with sequin star decoration, a wire and bead heart necklace, clad in its own little sequin jewelry box, and a red tray (great for breakfast in bed?).

It’s my little “boho” giveaway – lots of bright colors and fun Indian-influenced patterns and designs.

I hope you like it!!!

beautiful day

lessons from my MBA

I have big news for you, ladies.

On Saturday night at 5:00 p.m., I officially finished my last class of the MBA program!!! Hooray!!!

The best way to celebrate? Lots of ice cream, creme brulee, and triple chocolate mousse cake.

And the most amazing graduation gift in the entire world from my parents.

A big-girl camera! It was the best gift I could have imagined. They know how much I love to blog and take pictures…so this is the next step in getting better at photography.

And look at these flowers. My mom’s friend, Shirley, did this (and the flowers in the first picture) – she has a professional gardening business and produces the most gorgeous flower arrangements.

The MBA was the biggest whirlwind experience of my life. Just one short year ago, I started the MBA program as a freshly-graduated twenty year old hoping to learn a whole lot more about business, make some great friends, and enjoy the process. It’s amazing to reflect back on how much things have changed, and how far things have come, since last August when everything began.

I learned a lot about business, and I was inspired more than I ever thought possible. I met sooo many great friends, and the memories I’ve made will last a lifetime. From rooming with them in Singapore and Hong Kong in January to watching one of them walk down the aisle last month, I feel so grateful for the people I’ve met and the connections I’ve made.

I thought it was only fitting to do one last MBA Lesson of the Week for my last few days of school…only this time, it’s “Lessons from my MBA.”

I hope you’ve had an amazing weekend!

smile list: part one

Sometimes when things get so busy, and so stressful, and just a little bit overwhelming, all that you want to do is look at pretty pictures and focus on the things that make you smile.

I’ve been a little bit stressed out lately…which is why I felt the need to make this list! And also why I’m so sorry that I haven’t been very good at stopping by your blogs or writing you back in the last week. I’m slowly making up for lost time!

A balloon ride to Paris…just like the movie Up but to an even more romantic location. I want to go!

I’m going to have dreams about this dress. It’s like a fairy princess.

This might be my favorite color in the world. So pretty!

I might adopt this piggy as Riley’s new companion.

Watercolors and antique books. Love.
